De bouwsector is een enorm traditionele sector met een zeer lage productiviteit t.o.v. de meeste andere sectoren, die een heel stuk verder staan in de adoptie van digitale technologie.
Anderzijds wijzen de trends erop dat ook in deze sector de digitale transformatie volop aan de gang is. Digitaal samenwerken is meer dan ooit actueel. De toekomst is digitaal.
Het grote probleem is dat de digitale informatiestroom zeer beperkt is over de gehele waardeketen van het bouwproces. De maakindustrie is in continue evolutie i.f.v. nieuwe, meer circulaire en efficiëntere producten en systemen. Er is echter een grote digitale kloof tussen de maaksector en de bouwsector.

De missie van ThorbiQ bestaat eruit om deze digitale kloof te dichten tussen de producenten van bouwproducten enerzijds en de bouwprofessionals (architecten, studiebureaus, aannemers, installateurs, enz.) anderzijds. D.m.v. onze technologie kunnen bouwproducenten een zeer waardevolle digitale dienstverlening aanbieden aan de bouwprofessionals. Deze actoren krijgen op deze manier (gratis) toegang tot betrouwbare data en een waaier aan uniforme applicaties die de productiviteit en kwaliteit van hun werk enorm verhogen.

Het Laboratorium voor Lichttechnologie is verbonden aan de KU Leuven Technologiecampus Gent. Het is een neutraal aanspreekpunt voor verlichting. Het laboratorium beschikt over verschillende meettoestellen waaronder 3 goniometers om verlichtingstoestellen op te meten.
